Edexcel Higher National Certificate in Business

This course has 8 Units, and is at Level 4 in the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The qualification is designed to build knowledge of fundamental business subjects. It will give you the opportunity to learn up-to-date business skills, and to provide a qualification that will enhance your career prospects. The 8 Units are the same as the first year of the HND, and HNC holders can "top up" to an HND by completing 8 further Units.

These courses have 16 Units:

HND in business
HND in business (Finance)
HND in business (Management)
HND in business (Marketing)
HND in business (Human Resources Management)

The Higher National Diploma in Business (HND) is a Level 5 programme and is equivalent to the first two years of a business degree. Many students "top up" their HND to a BA (Hons) degree by studying the final stage of a degree at University. Stratford Business School has partnership arrangements with a number of UK universities that provide distance learning BA (Hons) top up programmes for HND holders. Please contact us for the latest details. The HND has 16 Units and traditionally takes two years to complete. In the UK an HND gains exemptions from many professional examinations.

You should be over 18 years old, with some experience of working or studying. HND students will need access to a computer with spreadsheet and presentation software (for example Excel and PowerPoint).

HNC to HND "Top Up"

If you already have an HNC, or have partially completed one, then you can "top up" to a full HND by achieving more Units. These can be studied entirely by distance learning and so can be achieved even if you are in full time employment.
